SEMESTER OUTLINES

This semester-long program has been designed to give students the opportunity to understand not only theoretical knowledge needed to become a hospitality professional within an international context, but to have hands-on experience at our campus in Marbella. Students will choose up to 5 courses, in consultation with the Academic department and depending on current level of studies – for a total of 15 credits – from the second year and/or third year classes listed below*. Students have the option to experience an internship.

TOTAL: 15 credits

Please note: the 20-week* semester includes 1 week of induction and 1 week mid-term break.

Upon completion of the semester abroad, students will receive a course transcript listing the corresponding passed credits. Credit transfer to the students’ university is subject to evaluation by their current university.

* Availabilty of classes is dependent on current level of study and subject timetable of second and third year classes. Confirmation of academic subjects to be taken will be provided after consultation with the Les Roches Marbella Academic department.

To become a hospitality professional, it is important to understand not only theoretical knowledge within an international context, but to have hands-on experience within the industry. This semester-long program has been designed to give students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the practical aspects of hospitality.

During the semester in Spain, students will focus solely on practical learning. Students will take the following courses:

SECOND YEAR COURSES

  • Service Techniques- Experiential Learning – 3 credits
  • Cleaning Science & Stewarding – 1,5 credits
  • Principles of Bar & Bev. Ops – 3 credits
  • Service Concepts – 3 credits
  • Culinary Arts- Experiential Learning – 3 credits
  • Pastry and Bakery Operations-Craft Based Learning – 1.5 credits
  • Culinary Concepts – 3 credits

TOTAL: 18 credits

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • Room and board fees include off-campus accommodation managed by Les Roches Marbella and half board (breakfast and lunch, 5 days a week, Monday to Friday)
  • Applicant must be 18 years old or older
  • Aimed at current students majoring in hospitality management or business who wish to gain international and practical experience
  • Completed application form and documents
  • The student must meet Les Roches Marbella International School of Hotel Management admission requirements for undergraduate students
  • English Qualification if English is not the student’s mother tongue – TOEFL 550, 80 (internet-based test) or IELTS 5.5
