Learning by doing
Switzerland’s reputation as ‘the home of hospitality studies’ started to develop in the late 18th century. At that time, Switzerland was a very popular country among rich and royal tourists who chose this country to enjoy the stunning scenery, the pure mountain air and the crystal clear lakes. The country was considered as a must-see destination for the new European travelers who crossed Europe to experience its idyllic natural scenery. Due to the increasing number of tourists visiting Switzerland, hotels and big resorts were built in order to cover the needs of their special guests and there was a rapid increase of the educational programs offered in the hospitality area.
The Swiss brought many skills to the approach of Hospitality Management, including rigor, precision, attention to details, timely service and discretion that were already characteristic of the culture of other sectors within Switzerland, such as watchmaking and banking. In fact, the coincidence between these skills and the expectations of high-demand clients is so perfect that companies in the so-called experienced economy sectors are as prone as hotels and restaurants to look for graduates of the Swiss Hospitality Education.
In Les Roches Marbella you will find a unique learning approach: experiential learning, also known practical learning. This method is integrated in all the study programs that are offered.
These programs include traditional hospitality fields, such as hotel management, room division or food and beverages, but also non-traditional fields, such as event management, spa and health and luxury industry.
Many of our alumni are leaders of some of the most successful companies in the world and remain dedicated ambassadors of both Les Roches and the Swiss Hospitality Education.
