Internships help you develop the work ethos and professional attitude for the industry. Actual industry experience forms an essential part of your curriculum. Depending on the program chosen, you will have an opportunity to take from 1 up to 3 internships anywhere around the world during your studies at Les Roches Marbella. You will work in establishment as a member of a full-time team and you will be expected to work in a professional manner.
Internships are a wonderful opportunity to put into a real working context what you have learned during theory classes and practical classes on campus. Their objectives are to:

While on internship, you will also develop a broad range of skills and competences that will prepare you for future leadership positions such as teamwork, self-management, decision-making, problem-solving, managing stress and communication.
THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT (CDD)
The Career Development Department (CDD) offers advice and assistance to each student by providing them with the professional contacts they need to find appropriate internships. All students are required to complete their internships in any of the different departments within the several different types of hotels or hospitality establishments that are approved by Les Roches Marbella.
We have a full department fully dedicated to help you find the perfect job internship and location to develop your professional skills and learn all the facets of this exciting industry and related sectors.
The CDD Internship department will also take care of all the internship agreements and required School certificates required by official papers required by the working laws of the countries where students will in order to carry out their internship. They will ensure that proper internship conditions will be applied and will be in contact with the student and/or the employer during the internship period.
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: 3 PER STUDENT!
Our CDD office receives numerous internship offers on a daily and worldwide basis from different companies including International hotel chains, boutique hotels, private restaurants and hotels, golf courses, golf resorts and cruise lines, amongst others. Internship offers must meet the school’s requirements to ensure the best learning experience for our students. These internship placement opportunities are published in the School's intranet for consultation by all students.
Based on 2010 data, the school received an average of 3 internship placement offers per student demonstrating the true potential from this fast growing industry and related sectors. Therefore, students have available great internship opportunities to allow them to fully develop their professional potential.

Internships can be very diverse varied in terms of type of establishment and locations. It ranges from private family owned hotels to international five star hotels chains, restaurants, etc. Students will also have the opportunity to do their internships in Spain, in which case the internship will be supervised by the Career Development Department.
Depending on your nationality, work permit conditions and language skills, the world is open to you! Exciting destinations are available and you could work in a business hotel or restaurant in a large city or in a beautiful golf resort by the sea. Regardless of the type of establishment or location, this real work experience will help succeed in your future career in this industry.

Each semester, the industry’s top employers from around the world visit the school, looking at hiring interns and graduates. Many establishments recruit from Les Roches Marbella year after year. The Career Development Department organizes interviews and helps you to prepare for them. Les Roches Marbella organizes on-campus career oriented industry presentations and interviews for both internships and career placements. We have an excellent recruitment record where over 90% of graduates have a job offer upon graduation day.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS INTERNSHIPS
For students in the undergraduate programs, each internship will develop specific skills and provide a different experience.
1st internship:
this internship is of operational nature and students will either work in service and / or at the reception. They will work in a “Front-of-the-house” position, which means that they will deal with guests and ensure their well-being. Students will therefore develop specific skills such as their presentation, communication and language skills.
2nd internship:
This internship is also of operational nature but students will generally work in the “Back-of-the-house”, meaning in the kitchen or in housekeeping. Although they will not be in contact with guests, they will develop another set of skills, namely those relating to organization, time management, pressure and team work.
3rd internship:
Students who will have a third internship will move towards a more administration position where they will have more responsibilities and will have to take the lead on certain projects. During that internship, students will develop further their competencies which deal with self-management, decision-making, problem-solving and managing stress.
