BACHELOR IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION HOSPITALITY // 3.5 YEARS

What will I study?

The BBA in Hospitality Management prepares students to enter the world of hospitality. It combines sound theory and craft based learning (practical classes) with professional internships in the industry. In the last year, students take a variety of courses for business management, general education courses as elective subjects, and specific courses for their specialization track. Additionaly, students take a wide variety of courses for the general business management practices in hospitality.

SEMESTERS OVERVIEW

Semester 1: Hotel Operations I (HOI)

 
Your first semester of study will prepare you to successfully fulfill functions of various "Front-of-the-House" departments of national and international restaurants or hotels. You'll receive an extended introduction to the hospitality field and develop your ability to assume responsibilities. Your coursework may also focus on foreign language training-especially listening, understanding and speaking-computer applications and general management subjects, and housekeeping.
 
Semester 2: Internship (5-6 months)
 
For this first internship, you will put into practice the basics you will have learnt and will get a feel for the industry. This first work experience is at operational level either in service (restaurant, bars, room service) or in Rooms Division (Front office, housekeeping).
 
Semester 3: Hotel Operations II (HOII)
 
This semester of study builds on the skills that you have already developed by preparing you to fulfill duties of various "Back-of-the-House" departments, such as Kitchen, Pastry and Bakery. The practical aspect will incorporate operational details as well as the basics of supervision and management. You will build on the foreign language skills you learned in Semester 1, and will continue to study various liberal arts and management subjects.
 
Semester 4: Hotel Operations III (HOIII)
 
This final Hotel Operations semester will prepare you to fulfill the managerial functions of the principal departments of a national or international hotel or restaurant. Your training will incorporate operational details, but an emphasis will be placed on supervisory and managerial principles. You will continue to enhance the foreign language skills developed in Semesters 1 and 3.
 
Semester 5: Internship (5-6 months)
 
This last internship is generally in Administration & Management and gives the opportunity to take decision, come up with new strategies for a particular project or department and often opens the door to your future career.

 

 

Semesters 6 & 7:

 

During these last two academic semesters, you will build upon your previously acquired technical and operational managerial competencies. You will develop confidence and improve your ability in a range of vital management skills, including Informational Technology, Financial Management, Marketing, Human Resources and Yield & revenue Management amongst others. Upon completion of the program, you will be set for future success as you venture out into the global hospitality and tourism industries or post-graduate study.

BACHELOR SPECIALIZATIONS

The BBA Program focuses on developing skills of analysis, evaluation and conceptualization. Experience dealing with numerous managerial issues, from human resources to IT decision-making. Classes include: strategic marketing, financial management, yield and revenue management, performance management, HRM planning and development and general education subjects.  Specialization subjects are delivered during semester 7.

 

Based on the personal strengths and professional goals discovered through the BBA Hospitality/Hotel Management Diploma internships, students can choose the BBA Hospitality Management pathway which suits their career objectives and areas of interest. They have 3 choices:

 

 

LRM Entrepreneurship Personal Effectiveness

Entrepreneurship & SME Management

Les Roches Marbella’s new BBA in International Hospitality with Entrepreneurship and Small & Medium Enterprise Management focuses on giving entrepreneurs and managers the hands-on knowledge needed to ensure the success of their future hospitality business. The specialization includes specific subjects in Business Planning, SME Management and Personal Effectiveness.

 

This stream is highly recommended for students whose ambitions involve creating and running a hospitality business and wish to step into the entrepreneurial world. 

 

 

LRM Resorts Management

 

Resorts Management

This specialization is dedicated to students who wish to acquire specific knowledge about resorts management and related business. The specialization includes specific subjects in Timeshare, Vacation Ownership and Spa Hotel Resorts and Golf Club Management.

This stream is highly recommended for students who wish to reach leadership positions in companies or step into the entrepreneurial world.

LRM Events Management

Events Management

The events industry is flourishing and the management of events has become increasingly popular within the hospitality, tourism, leisure and sports sectors. The event sector is thriving across the world and understanding the basics of event management will enable students to effectively plan and deliver all types of events; from corporate meetings, incentive trips and conferences to exhibitions, festivals and sporting events.

 

This specialization is dedicated to students who have a passion for events management and related business. It includes specific subjects in Events Management, Convention and Trade Fair Planning.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS - BBA (HOSPITALITY)

1. Normally 18 years old and above. Students can be under that age provided they are 18 years old by the time they start their 1st internship.
2. A completed application form with all pertinent attachments and a non-refundable application fee of 300 Euros.
3. An official copy of your High School Diploma or equivalent. Students must have completed their full higher secondary education (IB, A Levels, 2º Bachillerato, Abitur, Baccaulareate, Gymnasium, or the High School Diploma) or at least six years of secondary education and provide evidence, supported by complete information on the school, including school transcript and/or certificate of public examination (including an explanatory note of the grading system).
4. A complete CV. Pre-Study Plan brief essay stating the reasons why you choose to study Hospitality Management at Les Roches Marbella. Post Study Plan stating your future professional goals after graduating.
5. If English is not your mother tongue or if you have not spent the last 3 years in an English-taught school, please enclose one of the following official certificate and scores:
5.1. TOEFL : minimum score of 500 points for the paper based test or 61 IBT.
5.2. Cambridge First Certificate Exam (FCE): grade C - Please also send the statement of results with your detailed profile.
5.3.IELTS: Academic Module minimum Overall Band Score 5.0 and min. 5.0 for each part (listening, reading, writing, speaking).
5.4. All English certificates must have been issued in the last 12 months prior to admission. If on application, your official English test results are not available, applicants will be required to take the Les Roches Marbella English entrance exam, and provide your official English results thereafter.
6. A valid medical certificate.

BBA COMPLETION - DIRECT ENTRY SEMESTERS 6 & 7

In addition to the above admission requirements, semester 6 and 7 direct entry candidates must meet the following entry requirements:

 

1. A completed application form with all pertinent attachments and a non-refundable application fee of 300 Euros (for new students only).
2. Students must hold one of the following:
2.1. Les Roches Higher Diploma in Hotel Management or Hotel Management Diploma.
2.2. Diploma of a Hotel Management School or other recognized diploma with a minimum of 2,5 year program accepted by Les Roches Marbella.
2.3. Senior year status (completion of 3 years of university studies) in a hospitality or tourism program with 80 transferable USA credits or 180 ECTS and corresponding internship experience.
2.4. Applications from students wishing to transfer from other programs or other Hotel Schools will be considered. Appropriate entry level will be determined according to their qualifications; therefore, candidates are required to submit an official program outline and transcript of previous studies.
3. Copies of work experience certificates in the hotel industry if applicable.
4. If English is not your mother tongue or if you have not spent the last 3 years in an English-taught school, please enclose one of the following official certificate and scores:
4.1. TOEFL : minimum score of 550 points for the paper based test or 79-80 for the internet based test.
4.2. Cambridge First Certificate Exam (FCE): grade B - Please also send the statement of results with your detailed profile.
4.3. IELTS: Academic Module minimum Overall Band Score 5.5 and min. 5.5 for each part (listening, reading, writing, speaking).
4.4.  All English certificates must have been issued in the last 12 months prior to admission. If on application, your official English test results are not available, applicants will be required to take the Les Roches Marbella English entrance exam, and provide your official English results thereafter.
